Eric's Work in Nicaragua

EricEric lived in Nicaragua for more than three years, making it not only his home, but securing residency status as well. He resided in the town of San Juan del Sur for two years, later moving to Managua, the capital city, where he lived and worked prior to his arrest. Eric was the publisher of the bilingual Central American periodical EP Magazine.

In the beginning, when there were scarce funds to sustain this new venture, Eric sold an ad in the magazine to a major real estate and development company. Through this process Eric got to know the ownership and management, culminating in an job offer in sales. Eric’s talent was apparent early.  He excelled, becoming one of the companies top brokers.  Within the first year he rose through the ranks becoming a managing partner at the firm.  This mobility would help further both development interests and those of the budding publication.

One of Eric's specialties was his proficiency in Latin culture and language. Due to his Mexican heritage, extensive travels and study he became a fluid interpreter of both Latin American and Caribbean cultures; providing a valuable service to potential investors and developers as well as the target audience for EP Magazine. He committed himself to becoming a student of environmentally and socially conscious investment and development.

Very quickly, EP Magazine began to speak for itself. Readers and advertisers saw the potential that its imagery and focus on "cultura libre – conscious living" was one they could easily be connected with. The magazine quickly became one of the premier bilingual publications in Central America. Within only three issues, EP drew the attention of both investors and major advertising entities, paving the way for a bright future.

After Eric’s arrest and conviction EP Magazine was shelved and is currently on standby while Eric recovers and writes his book.
